A NEW STORY!
No an old story. DUH, what did ya think? I am going to write this with my new set up. I'M going to describe my new set up for those of you whom are interested.
You see I have it, my keyboard positioned at such an angle preventing me from having to look very far down at the keyboard. Now if I could just touch-type, like I used to be capable of doing, I wouldn’t have to constantly look down at the keyboard, but, I can’t so I do, have to hunt &peck in order to type.
I also have a handy dandy mobile armrest. Something, which I don’t know how, I got by doing all that typing without, I’VE written the whole MILKO stories without it. It’s really a fantastic thing. Obviously, it was invented for people who hunt & peck like I do, or it was invented specifically for people suffering from CARPAL TUNNEL syndrome/ repetitive stress syndrome as I have had . What this mobile armrest is, is an armrest that your arm rests on while you typing. It moves along your desk with your movements back and forth. Giving your arm something to rest on while you type, it really saves your shoulder.
And one more thing that doesn’t seem very important when you just talk about it, but, it really is, I think, and that is a footrest. You’ve always heard how important it is to have good posture while sitting in a chair, well your grandmother, or whomever wasn’t wrong. When you’re sitting at a desk, or anywhere for that matter, you should always sit with your legs at a 90 degree bend with your feet flat on the floor. At first I thought it was just a gimmick to get me to purchase something else, from the back store where I purchased my chair and mobile armrest at, but, I use my footstool every day and I’M telling you, the idea of having a footstool isn’t just a GIMMICK, there’s more to it then that. I feel much better after typing a story now. No more neck aches , or head aches.
So that’s my set up. IF you’ve got any questions about this or anything else you can shoot your questions, or maybe you have suggestions about other ways to adapt to living/ writing/ whatever with a TBI and the use of only one hand, please don’t hesitate to send me an E-mail to
