QUAKE
Bmfdmd Comments on Quake. Now I can get pretty far in QUAKE without starting too many sections over. Certain sections really give me problems, but some are definitely more fun than others some have this really awesome looking rocket launcher to use as a weapon and some have this huge machine gun nail gun, while typically I just have this scrawny little double barreled shotgun . But, talk about fun, it's sure fun to go after these big badass monsters because they look like something you might only see in your worst nightmares. Luckily I haven't had any dreams about QUAKE like I used to have with DOOM. I had dreams where if I clenched my fists real tight I could run in my mind while playing the game in my mind. The only thing is I can't remember how I fired the weapons or if I even had weapons. Needless to say QUAKE is a lot of fun. Sequential notes If you are a TBI survivor, you may be interested in a sequential series of comments about QUAKE and how a fellow TBIer felt as he played and coped. Here it is. 10 Jan I just finally got past the big ugly pier in THE GRIZLY GROTTO only to be blown up by an OGRE. I don't remember how I did it, I think I was just going to drown myself when all of a sudden I saw this arrow pointing up. So I pushed the space bar to kick towards the surface and the next thing I know is I'M in this hallway and just in front of me is a machine gun now that's a new one but, hey I'M not going to knock it but, then I was blown up by an OGRE or something :( I should've saved the game once I had gotten that far because I doubt if I could get that far again. Especially since I can't remember how I got that far in the first place. 10 Jan Well, gonna go kill some MONSTERS. Hey,! Have you given any thought to me getting either RIVEN or MYST? Because I'D like to play something besides QUAKE I mean hell, I'M almost a forty year old man. I feel like the word play shouldn't even be in my vocabulary but, it is and I'M forced to use it especially when talking with the kids boy if they don't get their time to PLAY we, BARB and I, have to really watch out or we could have a MUTINEE on our hands :) Well, I'M for real gonna go kill some generally more sophisticated MONSTERS. 10 Jan ... Warcraft fun as WARCRAFT is it's still too frustrating to play very often I suppose it's frustrating because it takes too long and the ORCS attack too often, I know that's real world, but, I was only VICTORIOUS that one time probably because you helped me. When I played it again, hoping to be VICTORIOUS, I had to admit defeat :( Depressing, but, that's the way it goes . I'LL probably play again because it would no different from when I quit wrestling, I guess I'M not a very good loser. I don't think I ever have been. Oh well, gonna go kill some MONSTERS 12 Jan Other games So let me know what you want me to do to start writing my reviews of games for TBI'S like myself cause I'M sure it would be helpful for most TBI'S I know if it weren't for games like EARTH TRKS, and TIME TREKS, I don't think I'D be making so much progress and a good way for me to judge if I'M making progress is by playing games like QUAKE or DOOM the quicker I get at these games the better I must be doing. I feel like I'M doing so much better than before that I AM almost ready to start driving again at least four wheeling in the dirt where I don't run the risk of hurting anyone. 17 Jan And I do feel better after working out. It'd be especially good after playing QUAKE because some sections are very frustrating mainly THE GRISLY GROTTO. I just can't seem to get through it. 17 Jan Hey, I played one of the other EPISODES of QUAKE today some of the other ones are a lot of fun, but, I can't predict where I'M going to run into a MONSTER. So in some ways it's harder, but, a lot more interesting. It's almost like discovering new land. Or it's like having a new game to play, but, I don't feel just right about it, I'M feeling kinda LEFT about it because there's one section of the first EPISODE I can't quite get through I know there's gotta be a way through it though. Meanwhile, after lunch I'LL review QUAKE and DOOM for 18 Jan HEY, GUYESS WHAT? I'M FINALLY THROUGH "THE GRISLY GROTTO." Now I'M in a thing called "GLOOM KEEP" whatever that means I guess it could be the name of a place, but, I'M through THE GRISLY GROTTO, I'M so excited. Can't you tell? Hey, but, it is great news this means after I finish GLOOM KEEP, I can go on to TERMINATION CWNTRAL. Then on to the next EPISODE and feel good about it. Well, I just thought I'D write with the EARTH SHATTERING NEWS:) 18Jan 1. Why do you like it, and do you think other TBI survivors would like it? I like it because it's fun and challenging . 2. Has it helped with your rehab in any way? Yes it has helped my rehab. especially my eye hand coordination . Which I will need for DRIVING , if I ever want to drive again. 3. How do you play it? I play with one hand with a TRACKBALL, since I can't use a mouse I'M not THAT coordinated with my left hand because I'M traditionally right hand dominant 24 Jan I'VE been trying to get all the way through QUAKE or what I assume is start to finish but, boy, is it hard. I think one of the hardest sections is THE GRISLY GROTTO. It doesn't seem fair because like in the harder ways to play there are usually more MONSTERS and there are about twice the normal amount of MONSTERS. Which makes it more difficult because instead of just worrying about getting massacred by a chainsaw-wheeling MONSTER you also have to worry about getting SCRAGGED by a SCRAG. A SCRAG is this weird looking MONSTER that looks sort of like a cross between a COCHOON and a WORM the only thing I can say is they're weird looking, but, one good thing about them is they make this noise like the wind so I always know when I'M about to be scragged. That's another thing about QUAKE, YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN YOU'RE ABOUT TO KILLED, which is quite frequent. There are even SPIKES that come out of the floor or in certain areas the ceiling crushes you for no damn reason, no warning either. Sometimes it waits till just when you're almost through a certain section 28 Jan I just finished the first episode of QUAKE. Now I can finally move on to the next episode, conscientiously . The end was very difficult until I noticed a way through this big bad looking LAVA MONSTER, but, the way I killed him is I noticed overtime I went over these RHUNE STONES an electrical current like lightning went off overhead in a sort of line over where the MONSTER was. So I decided that must be the only way of killing the guy, and it was it turns out. The only way I know I finished the first EPISODE was the computer or the game said CONGRATULATIONS. That's all, I don't know, but, I would've expected more than just CONGRATULATIONS. Maybe some congratulatory music or something or I know what would be good is your own choice of adult only pictures either of a man or a woman nude :) Feb 2 I'M into part of QUAKE called EBON FORTRESS and boy, or girl, is it fun it's the furthest I'VE gotten and I thought the thing before this, which I can't remember the name of I wish you could see this the way I know it's a new section, or whatever, is there was this big white MONSTER guarding this key that I needed to move on GIRL, is this game fun and, sure keeps me preoccupied. Who cares if I can't drive, as long as I can play QUAKE.
